2015 - On our way to New Beginnings Wow, what a year it has been in the maintenance and reliability community, or, in the spirit of the new ISO 55000 standard, the Asset Management community. Last January we saw the official publication of the ISO 55000 standard that is definitely having an impact on all of us in some way. This new standard provides a framework for managing assets, and it is elevating awareness of asset management as a business strategy and a corporate policy imperative. How companies will ultimately use it and adopt it is yet to be determined, but surely we will see a continued keen interest in ISO 55000 and other related standards, like API 691,and reaction to it in our industry in 2015. As you probably know, MRG is now part of Emerson Process Management, and it has been a busy and invigorating year. We are sincerely very excited to be an integral part of Emerson because of its reputation for integrity, its belief at the executive management level in reliability as a strategic business driver for our clients, and the company’s scale and global reach. As we launch this new Newsletter called Reliability Connection, you can count on us adhering to the same guiding principles that made Sightings & Happenings so popular and widely valued, sharing maintenance and reliability, or asset management best practices with our loyal readers. As part of a larger organization we will be able to bring you the useful white papers, webinars, and reliability tips that you have come to expect, with additional features related to the latest enabling technologies and solutions that are necessary to realize the business benefits of best practices in asset management. It is an exciting time to be in the maintenance and reliability field as the world is rapidly realizing that Reliability is not merely a set of technical solutions; but (as we at MRG have been preaching for nearly three decades) “Reliability is a Business Strategy”. Welcome to the new Reliability Connection, and Happy New Year from your old friends at MRG and new friends at Emerson! |
