As process fluid flows through the oscillating tube, Coriolis forces are induced. These forces cause the flow tube to twist in opposition to the reference tube. The mechanical coupling of the flow tube to the reference tube allows the twist of the flow tube to be transferred into the reference tube.
Similar to the dual bent tubes, the Coriolis force generated in inlet side of the flow tube resist the vibration while the Coriolis force in the outlet side of the flow tube aid in the vibration. The opposite directions of the Coriolis forces in the inlet side to the outlet side of the flow tube result in twisting, which occurs under flowing conditions. |
