The Micro Motion straight-tube Coriolis includes a reference tube designed to act as a second flow tube and serves as a mounting point for the pickoff and drive coils. The reference tube is designed to flex as it oscillates in opposition to the flow tube.

As the flow tube is driven down, the reference tube is driven up. The flexible design of the Micro Motion reference tube ensures the measurement system is balanced under both no-flow and flow conditions.
