Fisher-Rosemount becoming Emerson Process Management:
Emerson unit connects technology and industry expertise to deliver

(4/23/2001) -- AUSTIN, Texas (April 23, 2001) Reflecting its expansion into industry-specific engineering, consulting and project management services, Fisher-Rosemount is changing its name to Emerson Process Management. The company's expanded services and solutions offering complement Fisher-Rosemount's historic reputation for best-in-class products, technologies and revolutionary automation architecture. The new name and immediate adoption of a new logo also reinforces the company’s link to its parent, St. Louis-based Emerson (NYSE: EMR), supporting a corporate wide branding strategy launched by Emerson in December 2000.

“Customers are demanding more from suppliers,” said John Berra, Executive vice president of Emerson with responsibility for the process management business. “Simply carrying a broad line of leading products and technologies isn't enough today. In many cases, they are looking to reduce the number of suppliers they do business with, choosing those who can help them grow their business continuously, efficiently, long term. This calls for a supplier with experience in bringing together and applying superior technologies to industry-specific and customer-specific applications. Emerson Process Management is that supplier."

Fisher-Rosemount has earned a reputation over the last several years as a leading product and technology manufacturer. It features industry-leading product brands including Fisher, Micro Motion, Rosemount, and Westinghouse as well as the innovative PlantWeb® field-based architecture. "These core brands will continue to serve as a mainstay of our product and technology offerings," continued Berra. “And by integrating the asset optimization, engineering and industry services that we’ve been building within our Performance Solutions unit, we become a robust and integrated organization with a single face to our customers."

"Just as our customer's plants, platforms, mills and pipelines are becoming more integrated, we as an organization need to become more tightly connected," said Berra. “Customers are streamlining their entire supply chains, and they need to link information everywhere and use it to improve business processes. They do not want to buy and then try to link disparate islands of technology. They want to acquire connected solutions. But when they look to suppliers, they see fragmented specializations. Until now, no one has offered superior technology and process management solutions. Emerson Process Management is the first to bring it all together.”

The range of customer solutions from Emerson Process Management includes · Industry-leading products for measurement, analysis, final control · Innovative, proven control systems and asset management software. · Integrated automation solutions based on open, standards-based PlantWeb field-based architecture. · Automation contracting engagements including consulting, process and IT engineering, commissioning, project management, and optimization · Performance-sustaining maintenance and asset utilization services

Customer support is primary in Emerson Process Management‘s business focus. The company continues to center its business on the experience and expertise of its local representative and direct-sales channels. In keeping with its expanded capabilities, industry and services experts have been added to help deliver tailored process management solutions. An initiative is under way to centralize all transactional activity for the expanded company through a common business system. This will further benefit customers by providing one point of access for commerce activities into the company. A secure extranet environment for this resource is simultaneously in development and scheduled for rollout later in 2001.

Emerson Process Management is strengthened by the renowned Emerson business acumen and investment philosophy that soundly and continuously grows its engineering and technology for access by customers. Emerson’s 43 years of continuous growth in per share earnings reflect the stability and disciplined growth of a world leader. As part of the Emerson branding initiative announced in December 2000, Emerson Process Management's new corporate identity will be tied closely to other Emerson business competencies, which include Network Power, Motor Technologies, Climate Solutions, Professional Tools, Appliance Solutions, Storage Solutions and Industrial Automation.
